My Plastic Free Pledge

My Plastic Free Pledge

Being based in Cornwall means I get to see first hand the impact single use plastic is having on the oceans. I've lived here for 17 years and the amount of plastic washing up on our shores now, compared to when we first moved here, is so upsetting!

So when I started Cornwall Studios, I wanted to ensure my business was single-use plastic free - it took some research to find the right suppliers, and even still they aren't perfect, sometimes shipping stuff wrapped in clingfilm to me - but they are all moving in the right direction and making policies to address the problems.

When I ship out my art prints and greetings cards they are wrapped in compostable plastic-free plant based sleeves and placed in planet friendly plastic-free secure cardboard packaging - its a fine balance between keeping the purchases safe as they travel, while making sure the packaging is environmentally friendly.

When choosing the paper for the greetings cards it was important to be sustainable whilst also providing a quality product, so I chose Cocoon Recycled 350gsm 100% Recycled Matte card stock, together with Recycled Kraft envelopes!

I am also a proud member of the Surfers Against Sewage Ocean Network, joining with lots and lots of other like minded brands, freelancers, businesses and creatives, united in our passion for protecting our oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife, in pledging our commitment to a plastic free, sustainable future! You can check them all out on the Surfers Against Sewage website!
